Chihuahua, Mexico.- It started 100 years ago, in my town, with my grandfather and his brother leading 60 men and young boys: the 1910 Mexican Revolution. My father was five years old, says the historian Armando Ortega from Cuchillo Parado, state of Chihuahua, in Northern Mexico.
What made this peaceful people rise against Porfirio Diaz' regime? How could a Revolution that was won in six months degenerate into a ten year civil war costing one million lives? Is Mexico approaching another internal conflagration?
Those questions, and more are addressed in Armando Ortega's conference on the subject, now offered as a special event to several US Universities and organizations. The title of the talk is "HOW THE 1910 MEXICAN REVOLUTION STARTED... AND, IS MEXICO ON THE BRINK OF ANOTHER CIVIL WAR?."
