Manchester UK, 18th of June 2010. During May, Parcel Delivery Comparison Website myParcelDelivery.com ran a competition to win one of 3 8GB iPod Touch devices. Entrants were encouraged from Twitter and Facebook involving simple tasks from "retweeting" a simple phrase to "liking" the myParcelDelivery.com Facebook page. If you use social media websites, you will know these simple tasks are carried out every day - bet you never thought it could lead to winning an iconic media player?
The winners were chosen at random from the 4989 entrants. Winning entrant, Natalie Wilson an accountant from Worsley Manchester was asked to attend a presentation at myParcelDelivery's offices, to receive her prize and officially launch the myParcelDelivery.com website.
The winners received their iPods using couriers booked through the myParcelDelivery.com website during its testing phase.
Director David Grimes stated "The amount of interest and buzz this competition has created has been overwhelming. It has been a pleasure to offer an international competition; this has been notably easier to manage using social media. The success of this competition has hinged on interaction with entrants. My team have replied to tweets and comments around the clock to bring the competition to the user."
Twitter users post 23.9 million Tweets a day to their "streams" the subject matter is varied and certainly reflects society - the conversation just keeps rolling. Facebook has for a long time become the most used website on the internet with 250 million users. Although controversial Facebook, it is a proven worthy asset in any digital marketing campaign.
