Collierville Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Welcomes Dr. Tim Micek
The physicians and staff of Collierville Orthopedics and Sports Medicine have announced the addition of Dr. Tim Micek to their medical staff.
Online, October 19, 2009 (Newswire.com) - The physicians and staff of Collierville Orthopedics and Sports Medicine have announced the addition of Dr. Tim Micek to their medical staff.
According to Dr. Ana Palmieri, one of the partners in the group: "We are really excited to have located a physician of Dr. Micek's caliber. He has a strong history of both rehabilitating and encouraging student athletes. His expertise in the treatment of shoulders will also be a strong asset to the local community. We're all going to enjoy getting to know him."
Dr. Micek comes to Collierville from Richmond, KY, which is located near Lexington. He managed the largest orthopedic practice in that area, including four off-site clinics and coverage of four hospitals. He was assisted by a physician assistant and nurse practitioner. The practice also included a full-time physical therapy department.
While working in Kentucky, Dr. Micek served as the team physician for four local high schools as well as Georgetown College, whose football team holds three NAIA national championship titles. Known in the Lexington area as "the shoulder guy," he was referred to for numerous second opinions for the treatment of shoulder injuries, and was also one of the few physicians in the state of Kentucky who performed minimally invasive knee replacements.
"With all of these responsibilities," says Micek, "came an equally high level of stress and demand upon my time. As a result of all of those seven-day work weeks, I decided that it was time to re-locate. I recognized that Collierville offered a great area for raising a family and building a more relaxed lifestyle."
Regarding his goals for the practice, Micek states: "One thing I want to accomplish is the offering of additional treatment options to my patients. One good example is arthroscopy, which allows us to use a scope with a couple of minor incisions, and perform a surgery which would otherwise require a larger opening. Recovery time is often reduced, and there is much less damage to connective tissues." Micek also cites an interest in utilizing gender-specific total knee replacements, an option which is becoming increasingly popular with women.
Outside of the office, Dr. Micek enjoys working out in the gym, hiking, and playing golf. He is engaged to be married, and is the father of two daughters who are ages eight and ten.
Located in the physicians' office building at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Collierville Orthopedics and Sports Medicine provides treatment for all standard orthopedic issues as well as sports-related injuries. The practice also houses its own full-time physical therapy department, staffed by two highly-qualified therapists.
