Emergency Communications Network (ECN), North America’s largest provider of critical and mass notification systems, is proud to announce its signature solutions CodeRED and SmartNotice will be used to help keep businesses, residents, and visitors of Daytona Beach, Florida and its adjoining jurisdictions, safe leading up to and throughout Speedweek. The week’s activities culminate with the Daytona 500, considered by many as the “Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing,” expected to draw more than 150,000 visitors to the area.

This year’s Daytona 500 race marks the series’ first race of the year at one of the most iconic venues in motor sports. U.S. television ratings for this legendary 500 mile-long race are historically higher than any other race of the year. This year’s event promises even more excitement and visitors to the area as the International Speedway Corporation unveils its $400 million renovation dubbed “Daytona Rising” – the world’s first motorsports stadium accommodating more than 101,500 spectators.

"With the influx of race fans and visitors to our county for all our upcoming special events, providing the most up-to-date information as it happens is essential to keeping everyone safe throughout the Daytona Beach region," said Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson. "The CodeRED service gives us true connectivity between local officials, employees, fans, and residents in real-time, helping us communicate better and be more efficient when responding to incidents and the needs of our region."

“ECN is headquartered in Florida and we are very proud of our heritage serving the local community for nearly two decades, connecting people with the information they need in the most reliable and efficient manner. We are fortunate as a region to have several large annual events that help bolster the region’s economy, but that also pose unique challenges for public safety officials. On behalf of ECN, we are pleased to be the partner of choice working alongside the region’s top emergency managers and coordinators, offering the use of our critical communication solutions throughout this busy time,” said David DiGiacomo, ECN’s President and CEO.

Partnering closely with public safety organizations across the region including local law enforcement and first responders, CodeRED member organizations will leverage the system’s fast and reliable communication services to inform area residents of traffic updates, weather warnings, emergency situations, and other important details related to the large influx of visitors and activities planned throughout the week.
