Cloud Is Leading Security Threat for Internet of Things - New Evans Data IoT Developer Survey
Santa Cruz, CA, June 14, 2016 (Newswire.com) - The primary challenge facing Internet of Things developers is security, according to Evans Data’s recently released Internet Of Things Development survey, and developers are identifying that threat as existing primarily in the Cloud and implementing tactics to combat it there.
The global study of over 850 developers actively developing for Internet of Things found that 46% cited security as the primary challenge facing development and adoption of IoT, followed by interoperability, cited by 28%. When it came to security mechanisms currently being implemented in IoT projects, the top one selected was Cloud access security control, cited by 46%, and VM monitoring for threat detection, 45%. These were ranked significantly higher than endpoint threat detection or machine readable threat information.

Real-time security analytics was also mentioned as an area for security implementation within Internet of Things, while analytics in general was cited by the largest plurality as their primary focus of their IoT development.
