Clipping Error Discusses The Last Of Us

In light of the recent new gameplay footage which was released for the game, Clipping Error thought it appropriate to discuss the upcoming release.

The Last Of Us is a game developed by the legendary Naughty dog, creators of the Uncharted series. The game is set in a post apocalyptic future, where two characters will become closer than ever as they battle through the infected open land around Boston.

The game is set twenty years after the initial outbreak of a fungal virus, which causes people to hunger for human flesh. Main character Joel is a smuggler, who brings contraband in and out of one of the last pockets of humanity, based outside of Boston. Joel is tasked with bringing secondary character, Ellie, to the state capital building, where a group known as Firefly will take her somewhere else, somewhere supposedly safer than the outside world.

The enemies in the game have been revealed to come in two different varieties so far. The first are known as runners, and have only been infected with the virus for a short time. Runners cannot see very well, and as a result can only detect movement, meaning Joel and Ellie must sneak up on them to take them out or get past them.

The second variety of enemies to be revealed is the Clickers. These enemies have been infected for longer than the Runners, and as a result have huge fungal growths all over their heads, blocking their eyes completely. They detect Joel and Ellie by emitting a screaming clicking sound which they use as a type of sonar, revealing all people nearby. Joel and Ellie have to sneak up on them and use throwing objects as a distraction to draw them away from where they want to go.

The game is shaping up to be something amazing, and The Last Of Us should be one of the best of 2013.
