Classic Jazz & Cars Event April 25 in Westport For Bridgeport Symphony Fundraiser

Dragones Classic Motorcars in Westport, Connecticut, will be the scene on April 25, 2015 for an elegant fundraiser for the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. Dragones Classic Motorcars in Westport, Connecticut, will be the festive scene on April 25, 2015 for an evening fundraiser for the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. Entitled "Classic Jazz & Jazzy Cars," it will include a band playing music from the 1920s and '30s, generous hors oeuvres featuring a taste of New Orleans, silent and live auctions, and all taking place within a setting filled with vintage cars and antiques to delight the eyes. Attendees will enjoy dancing to the music, strolling about Dragones' galleries to view the specially arranged vintage automobiles and antiques, or simply relaxing with friends while sipping champagne. Advance reservations are required for admission.

"The night will be a Gatsby-era style celebration," said Keren Warner, the event's Chairman, adding, "The setting of classic cars and classic jazz is a fun way of celebrating and supporting the classic music that has been the mainstay of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony since its founding in 1945."

The Ragtime Evolution Jazz Band will provide the evening’s music. This six-piece unit features record industry, movie and TV veterans led by Norwalk residents, Lew and Mary Green (cornet and piano), Grammy Award-winner Vince Giordano (string bass, bass saxophone and tuba), Jim Fryer (trombone), Ken Salvo (banjo) and Noel Kaletsky (clarinet and saxophone). 

The event runs from 7:00 - 10:30 PM. Admission for the evening is by advance reservation only. $125 per person. (Those purchasing deluxe tickets for $175 will be admitted early for a 6:30 PM escorted tour of the car and antique displays by George Dragone.) Attire: optional black tie or period dress for those who wish to embrace the 1920s spirit.
