Churches Come Together to Create Plan for Incoming Refugees

Churches Come Together to Create Plan for Incoming Refugees. Calming Fears, Showing Compassion, and Strengthening Long-Term Systems. Speakers include a representative from one of our 3 local resettlement agencies who will explain the refugee resettlement process. These facts will be our best defense against the understandable fear our community is feeling and will be extremely educational.

Church leaders and members from across Greater Dallas are coming together to discuss the refugee situation. The main purposes of the meeting are:

  • To calm fears that might be heightened due to the Paris attacks.
  • To tell the churches what they can do to be most helpful to refugees.
  • And to discuss how we can all work together to make the biggest positive impact possible.

Speakers include a representative from one of our 3 local resettlement agencies who will explain the refugee resettlement process. These facts will be our best defense against the understandable fear our community is feeling and will be extremely educational for public officials and media.

The impact of the attacks on national and international resettlement timelines and procedures is obviously unfolding now, but DFW is already the largest recipient of refugees in the country. Working together, we can help these refugees (no matter where they’re from) begin to heal from the immense trauma they have suffered and empower them to become well-adjusted members of our communities.
