Chris Lewis Fire & Security Installs Naim Audio's New Fire Alarm

Leading Salisbury-based audio manufacturer chooses Chris Lewis Fire & Security for fire alarm upgrade

Southampton-based Chris Lewis Fire & Security has completed the installation of an addressable fire alarm system at Naim Audio's headquarters in Salisbury.

One of the most commercially successful, privately owned British audio companies, Naim Audio designs and manufactures world class hi-fi equipment and designed the premium in-car audio system for Bentley Motors. It has recently won its second Queen's Award for Enterprise.

The fire alarm, intruder alarm and CCTV system at Naim's site has been maintained by Chris Lewis Fire & Security for a number of years, however, the previous fire alarm was aging and much of the equipment was obsolete and no longer supported by the manufacturer. Advice from our service engineers and the local fire brigade prompted Naim's management team to commission the replacement fire alarm to be installed across the company's production facility and administrative offices.

The new fire system comprises an Advanced Electronics fire panel and repeater, and over 150 Apollo fire detection points. Multi-sensors have been used in the production areas where soldering is carried out regularly during working hours. These sensors are set to function as heat sensors during the day and smoke detectors at night so they provide maximum protection but avoid being accidentally activated by the solder smoke. The entire fire system is networked to an IP gateway, enabling remote management and fault diagnosis, and delivering faster resolution of issues and reducing the need for call-outs.

Neil Carden, Manufacturing Director at Naim, comments, "We're delighted with the speed and smoothness with which our fire alarm upgrade has been completed. The team at Chris Lewis Fire & Security has taken the time to fully understand how our business uses our premises, and it has recommended the best equipment to meet our needs. I have complete confidence that we've now got one of the best fire alarm systems available."
