China's HAN Capital Partners With American United Entertainment on 200 Million Fund

Rob Rodriguez' American United Entertainment has partnered with the global financial conglomerate HAN Group and joined HAN Pictures and Media USA as Managing Partner.

Rob Rodriguez’ American United Entertainment has partnered with the global financial conglomerate HAN Group and joined HAN Pictures and Media USA. HAN Group was founded by Dr. John Liu, the former Citigroup senior executive and SAC Capital Management trader and senior Managing Director, a China and US hedge fund and investment fund manager, with a three-year deal to produce 15 films with China’s Han Capital Management and its sister entertainment production unit, HAN Pictures and Media Corp Ltd.

HAN revealed the partnership with American United Entertainment`s Rob Rodriguez and HAN`s U.S. entity HAN Pictures and Media Corp. on recently, where he will serve as Managing Partner.

HAN`s U.S. Film productions will be co-headed by Robert Rodriguez formerly working with Aldamisa Entertainment (Sin City “Dame for a Kill”, “Chef”) and former Fund Manager for Feature Film Partners. Rodriguez is no stranger to China funding, he was instrumental in the funding relationship between China`s Wei Han of Bliss Media and former Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO turned Producer Bill Mechanic, and Qingdao TopTech Investment Holdings.

HAN will set a goal for its U.S. subsidiary to help fund, partner, produce, develop and distribute 15 feature films through 2017 with budgets as high as $100 million USD on film & television productions. Rodriguez is currently helming the company’s studio financing partnerships and joint ventures with major industry players. “I am truly honored to work with HAN Pictures and Media and Dr. Liu, he is truly an incredible industry visionary. We are currently looking to make some major announcements with our new partners in order to help us become a great provider of global entertainment.” states Rodriguez. HAN is confident with its production and funding infrastructure it will be ready to compete globally and deliver truly compelling projects for global film and television audiences.

HAN Pictures and Media Corp and Rodriguez are currently reviewing its projects slate and will be announcing its new partnerships by the end of the first quarter of 2016. Dr. Liu and Rodriguez are currently looking at some of the industry`s global top directors, writers and show runners for their current projects.

HAN`s current slate includes a historical TV Series, “EMPRESS of TANG” an intense multi-season China TV drama series similar to “Spartacus” and “Rome” that is set in the time period of China's only female Emperor - Empress Wu, who led China in a glorious period where million people lived in the Capital City Changan, China, with international residents. HAN has committed funding for the first season and is preparing for pre-production in the spring.

Han`s first film project is the war drama “IN THE TIMES OF LOCUSTS", an untold story of the aftermath of Doolittle's Tokyo raid in 1942. When the U.S. responded to Pearl Harbor attack with a surprise bombing of Tokyo, where many Chinese people saved the U.S. Airforce pilots lives and paid with their own lives in South China. Japan then retaliated and took out its fury on the Chinese civilian people.
