Child Abuse Prevention Training

Two types of child abuse training will be offered. Keeping Them Safe is a basic fundamentals training on identifying and reporting, while, Darkness2Light is a comprehensive child abuse prevention.

A Child Abuse Training will be held in Norcross, Georgia at Norcross Human Services Center, 5030 Georgia Belle Court, Norcross 30093. There will be two types of training offered on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Darkness2Light, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. which is a comprehensive abuse prevention that teaches participants how to identify, prevent, and act responsibly to child maltreatment. Participants will receive a workbook to complete with an interactive video during the training. They will observe personal stories about how abuse can occur and how they can react in their work settings, neighborhoods or with community involvement. The training is approved for CEUs. Keeping Them Safe, which will be offered at 1:00 p.m. teaches the fundamentals of recognizing the different types of abuse, definitions, and indicators of child abuse. This training is aimed for beginners in the child care field and those that are in need of a refresher course. Participants will learn the Georgia law regarding reporting child abuse and how not reporting can affect them personally.

Both trainings are approved by Bright from the Start and meets licensing requirements.

These trainings are targeted to child care workers, school personnel, community volunteers, youth workers, law officials, church leaders community groups and parents. Organizations that do not have a child abuse reporting policy can receive consulting for establishing a reporting policy based on Georgia Law.

Registration must be in advanced. The cost is $15 per person. The training can be given onsite for groups at a group rate.
