Chicago Non-Profit Tech Group Holding Open Community Session

Chicago Net Tuesday's August meeting to be an open forum for non-profits, tech, and others to assist local agency in their advocacy efforts.

Chicago Net Tuesday, a group of people dedicated to helping link tech resources with underserved populations, is dedicating their August 14th meeting to holding an "open session" to provide the Community Male Empowerment Project assistance and guidance in online and offline advocacy. As part of its ongoing efforts to drive digital excellence in the city of Chicago, Chicago Net Tuesday is holding its August 14th meeting at Imagine Englewood (http://www.imagineenglewoodif.org), located at 730 West 69th Street, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Early in Net Tuesday's history, the organization worked with the Community Male Empowerment Project (http://www.cmeprojects.org/) which is dedicated to rebuilding our neighborhoods through job training and building rehabilitation. With recent announcements around property demolition in Chicago neighborhoods, the Project's belief that every building - and every person - deserves a second chance needs to be heard by a broader audience, and Net Tuesday is seeking guidance from anyone who is interested in directly helping our neighborhoods.

"We're extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve one of our partners in Chicago," states Gordon Dymowski, lead organizer for the group. "We're grateful that Imagine Englewood is extending their hospitality in holding our meeting. With the non-profit tech field becoming filled with experts, we're calling on them - as well as others in the non-profit and related fields - to demonstrate their willingness to serve the entire community. Net Tuesday isn't just about non-profits and social media....but about how tech tools can have a direct, lasting impact on the community, and can drive further innovation, development, and help build stronger communities. "

Cost for the event is free, and attendees are invited to RSVP at http://www.meetup.com/net2chi/events/71631042/
