CHESTER COUNTY ALUMNI OF LINCOLN UNIVERSITY TO HOST BENEFIT JAZZ AWARDS LUNCHEON

Alumni of Lincoln University will host the "2016 Chester County Jazz Awards Luncheon" to benefit the student scholarships at Lincoln University.

Chester County, PA.  March 2, 2016.  On Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, the Chester County Chapter of the Alumni Association of Lincoln University, PA, will host an awards luncheon honoring distinguished alumni and friends of the University who have demonstrated notable contributions to their professions, communities and to the University. The ceremony, held at the Mendenhall locInn, 323 Kennett Pike, Route 52, Mendenhall, PA, occurs during the 162st anniversary year of the founding of Lincoln University, the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), in Chester County in 1854.

This year’s honorees are Ms. Tisha Brown ’02, MHS’14, Dr. Marilyn Button, Dr. Joanne Gabbin, Dr. Alexander Gabbin, Dr. Robert Hannah ’49, Dr. Ja Jahannes ’64 (posthumously), Dr. Lenetta Lee ’85, Hon. Harry Lewis and Dr. Derrick Swinton.

The program will also feature jazz performance by guitar genius, Richard Tucker, who has performed with Smokey Robinson, Bill Paul, Stylistics, Delphonics, Melba Moore, Ron Laws and many more.

Lincoln University students from Chester County will also receive Outstanding Student of the Year Awards in recognition of their high academic achievement and contributions to the Lincoln University community.

Carol Black, Lincoln University alumna is President of the CHESCO Chapter of the AALU. Carol exclaims, "Our chapter is excited to celebrate the achievements of extraordinary faculty, alumni, friends and students of Lincoln University that will raise funds for scholarships that are desperately needed by our students.”

The Chester County Chapter of the Alumni Association of Lincoln University is the region's organization of alumni of Lincoln University dedicated to bountifully support Lincoln University in its overall mission, promote Lincoln University in Chester County, assist the national Alumni Association achieve its mission through student recruitment, career assistance, student mentoring programs and fellowship among chapter members and alumni around the world.
