Cheap but Fast Web Space: Bitpalace With PHP 7

Webhosting service Bitpalace expands its web space portfolio and now includes PHP 7. Users can decide which PHP version to use in their web space and switch to their version of choice at any time.

Users of Bitpalace’s business booster web space can now select the PHP version of their preference on the web server dashboard. In addition to PHP 5.6 Bitpalace now also offers version 7.0.1. Users can switch between versions at any time, making Bitpalace one of the first webhosting services to offer PHP 7 as part of their web space packages.

On average PHP 7 runs scripts 50% faster than version 5.6. Field tests using Drupal, Magento, Wordpress and other popular systems show speed increases between 20 and 70 percent. In addition, PHP 7 requires less RAM capacity and features new commands. As a result version 7 offers improved performance compared to version 5.6 or older.

However, this is not to say that all users should switch versions immediately. Many old software packages, such as old online shopping software and content management systems, which haven’t been updated in a while, still use PHP commands that have since been discontinued and will no longer work in PHP 7. This is why Bitpalace continues offering version 5.6 to keep these old PHP scripts functional. Switching versions is simple. Just select the version of your choice from the drop down list in your dashboard. If your website doesn’t work with the new PHP-version, simply revert back to your previous version.
