CES and AudioConexus Launch Location Based Storytelling for Heritage-rich Tourism Experiences

With the introduction of TechTours, CES is applying its product development experience in the tourism industry to help communities and municipalities share their historical and cultural stories with international travelers and locals alike.

CES, a leading provider of best practices and product development for tourism, today announced the launch of TechTours, forming a strategic partnership and technology development agreement with AudioConexus Inc., a leading Media and GPS tour entertainment company, specializing in the design, development and delivery of multilingual GPS tours on a variety of technology platforms and systems within the tourism industry.

This partnership is designed to help communities and destinations in Canada and globally create an enduring record of their history and culture through location based storytelling, interactive mapping, audio, video and text, where international travelers and locals alike can enjoy heritage-rich experiences and multimedia interpretation.

The agreement consists of four major components in the areas of research and planning, stakeholder consultation, product development, and implementation followed by measurement of socio-cultural activities and tours, incorporating self-directed and guided tours in a best practices approach to creating locally relevant content that entertains, educates and connects people to the rich history, cultures, and architecture of our cities, towns and neighbourhoods - past and present.

By using AudioConexus's Tourism App platform for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, municipalities and Destination Marketing Organizations both big and small can harness multimedia interpretation for self-directed tours (indoors and out) to drive economic and tourism development, marketing initiatives, and improve the visitor experience by sharing interactive maps, photographs, text, audio and video representing a new model for connecting with visitors in engaging and meaningful ways.

"CES has always focused on tourism development: building relationships with people and places and enabling local people to tell their story", says Clinton Belcher, CEO of CES. "Our clients have asked us for cost effective sustainable solutions to share their story with the world. We've responded with CES TechTour applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. With the overwhelming amount of applications available for self-guided tours, our challenge was finding a service provider that produces a distinctive world class product. Through extensive collaboration with AudioConexus, we discovered a company who shares our vision for exceptional visitor experiences making them a natural fit for a TechTours partnership".

Jonathan Stanley, President & CEO of AudioConexus Inc. said "Our partnership with CES reflects our shared commitment to excellence, providing users with the most meaningful, accessible and entertaining experiences possible. CES provides the keys to understanding the breadth and depth of economic and business development, adventure-nature and culture based tourism, municipal revitalization, and heritage preservation and conservation. We're excited to be working with an organization that complements our technology platform with community development, ecotourism, and community-based Sustainable Tourism expertise and experience."
