Celebrating Community Power with Tough Enough to Wear Pink(TM) (TETWP)

Tough Enough to Wear Pink - A Grassroots Legacy of Hope

Tough Enough to Wear Pink (TETWP), the western industry's powerful grassroots campaign against breast cancer, marked another milestone year during the fifth performance of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo on Monday, December 8th. What began as a bold idea in 2004 has grown into a movement that has now raised over $45 million, strengthening communities through local breast cancer support programs across the country.

A Legacy of Community Impact For more than two decades, TETWP has served as a cornerstone of compassion within the western lifestyle community. More than 100 rodeos and events across the U.S. and Canada proudly participate each year-yet the heart of the campaign remains unchanged: money raised in a community stays in that community. "What's so important is that the money raised in the community stays in the community," shares Lacey Wheatley, Executive Director of TETWP. "It's truly a grassroots effort-built one dollar, sometimes even five dollars, at a time."

This year saw remarkable examples of what local fundraising can achieve:

  • Gunnison Tough (Colorado) contributed an impressive $1.1 million, continuing their legacy of extraordinary local support.

  • The iconic Pendleton Round-Up (Oregon) donated $30,000 to fund vital cancer support services throughout Eastern Washington.

Across the country, TETWP funds help provide:

  • Mammogram and diagnostic equipment

  • Trucks and transportation services for treatment

  • Gas cards and travel support

  • Wigs and emotional care items

  • Community-specific patient assistance programs

From large-scale events to small-town fundraisers, TETWP continues to prove that communities united by compassion can achieve extraordinary results. Honoring Western Icon & Cancer Survivor Pam Minick The 2025 Montana Silversmiths TETWP Honoree is Pam Minick-legendary broadcaster, cowgirl, and lifelong western lifestyle advocate. A breast cancer survivor herself, Minick exemplifies resilience, leadership, and the enduring spirit of the western community. Continuing the Fight With ongoing support from iconic western brands-including Montana Silversmiths, CINCH, Twisted X Boots, Wrangler, Las Vegas Events, PRCA, and Purple Cowboy Wines-Tough Enough to Wear Pink remains committed to strengthening local communities and supporting families impacted by breast cancer. "As we look ahead, we continue honoring the countless individuals who champion the cause," says founder Terry Wheatley. "This has always been a grassroots movement. Our mission has always been to support those at home, in the places we live and love."
