CEE Brings Bite of Science Sessions to Illinois
Online, May 19, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), The DeVry Foundation, and Westinghouse Electric Company will sponsor two Bite of Science sessions for high school teachers in Chicago, Illinois. Roosevelt University and the Department of Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences will host the cost-free sessions for science teachers who wish to strengthen their professional development of science, in their classroom, are invited to participate.
Bite of Science dates and locations include:
•Tuesday, November 5, 2013, 4:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at Roosevelt University, Wabash Building, Room 418
•Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 4:30 p.m. -7:30. at Roosevelt University, Wabash Building, Room 418
The mission of the Teacher Enrichment Program is to assure a future talented and diverse U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It focuses on best practices and resources, as well as exposure to the breadth and depth of scientific discovery often not available to rural and urban high school teachers and their students. The Bite of Science professional development opportunities for teachers are estimated to impact at least 6,850 Illinois students in 2013.
The Teacher Enrichment Program will provide content and information for teachers to engage students to pursue careers in science and technology.

The Bite of Science speakers will discuss their work and relate it back to the classroom for the teachers.
The goals of the Teacher Enrichment Program are to:
•Provide teachers with enhanced professional development
•Furnish the opportunity for teachers to ask questions and to interact directly with scientists and engineers
•Foster excitement in teachers to create an interest in students for STEM fields
•Inform teachers so they have a better understanding of research and development
•Allow teachers the opportunity to network with their peers
