Carbon Hill Inc. Report on Carbon Credits Drive

"Carbon Hill" - Link smart grid, electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies.

Carbon Hill have initiated the first project ever to link smart grid, electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies in Asia.

The effort involves a set of five-door vehicles converted to run using electric drives. The new cars will then be offered to the public through a car-sharing service based at more than 17,000 convenience stores throughout Asia.

The host store outlets will be equipped with solar panels and high-speed recharging stations, along with a stationary battery array to move energy to and from the power grid.

The on-site battery storage with rapid charging allows the use of direct current throughout the system and is said to cut charging time. The recharging process also draws no power from the grid, giving it an advantage at peak load times.

The 24 kilowatt per hour battery pack from the electric cars can also be reused in stationary grid applications, like the ones used in the charging stations once they use up their useful lifespan. Carbon Hill said that it demonstrates the possible use of automotive systems in stationary applications without major modification.

This bold Carbon Hill project is scheduled to be implemented by March 2010. Carbon Hill views this project as by far the most comprehensive integration of smart grid and electric vehicle technologies they've ever undertaken, and it represents a tremendous milestone.
