Canon Introduces New EF-S 55-250mm F/4-5.6 IS STM Telephoto Zoom Lens
Online, October 1, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Canon Inc., one of the leading names in imaging and optical products has introduced the all new EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM telephoto zoom lens. Launched to complement the EOS 70D, EOS Rebel SL1 and EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR cameras, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens broadens Canon's line of Stepping Motor (STM) lenses to six models - the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM, EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF-M 22mm f/2.0 and the new EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens. Canon's Stepping Motor lenses can capture high-quality still images along with video images and minimize the motor noise from the lens so that the cameras can capture the video sound without the noise disruption of the focusing motors.
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM telephoto zoom lens provides higher magnification and the optical IS (image stabilizer) up to 3.5 equivalent ceases for shake correction. The stepping motor and the all new focus mechanism of the lens supports Canon EOS Movie Servo AF which offers quiet and smooth auto focusing during still photography as well as during video shooting.
According to the executive Vice President and General manager, Imaging Technologies and Communications Group, Canon U.S.A Yuichi Ishizuka, "EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens to the STM lens family of Canon will encourage a lot of photographers to utilize their DSLRs not only shoot high-quality still photos but video as well." He also added, "The noise reduction feature in movie mode is one crucial aspect and the video photographers will be elated with the smooth and silent auto-focus capability of this new lens."
The EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM telephoto zoom lens reduces chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range and delivers astounding image quality that stands out in terms of resolution and contrast. The superior lens coatings ensure ultimate color balance while reducing flare and ghosting and the seven-blade circular aperture helps create wonderful, soft backgrounds.
