Campaign for Learning Disabilities Team in Ghana Raising Funds for Children with Learning Disabilities
Ghana, December 1, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Most pupils with learning disabilities are abandoned from school before finishing primary school, and then continue in labour and poverty. To make matter worse further research indicates Ghanaian teachers have very little or no knowledge of learning disabilities, limiting their ability to meet the educational needs of children with learning disabilities.
The Campaign For Learning Disabilities (CLED) Team has established this project which will enhance the quality of life and education of 100 children with learning disabilities by providing them with individualized learning partners and remedial clinics, psychological counseling and by providing parenting classes for their parents. The project will also provide training for the learning partners (100 peer teaching volunteers), and 100 teachers and will raise awareness on learning disabilities (10 radio and television talk shows).
It's that time of year when a stranger can make all the difference to a person on the other side of the world, where someone will truly appreciate the change in their quality of life. We hope you can help us with our cause.

The children with learning disabilities will successfully advance in their education, as teachers and peers (Learning Partners) will have the skills to educate and support them in the classroom. At home, parents will support their children as effective co-educators. In the community, more awareness about learning disabilities will result in a public that is more knowledgeable, sensitive and responsive to the needs of children with learning disabilities.
The sad truth is these children are terribly neglected and abused as neither they nor their parents have any options on how to improve their own quality of life. The Team CLED has a genuine heartwarming crew of people that can see this and want to make a huge difference in these wonderful people’s lives.
CLED has been fortunate enough to have been selected by the GlobalGiving Foundation to participate in its December, 2014 Open Challenge, which is a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations working around the world. In order to succeed in GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge, CLED must raise $5,000 from 40 donors from Monday 1st through to 31st December, 2014.
If they are able to meet this threshold, they will be permanently featured on GlobalGiving’s website, where they have the potential to benefit from corporate relationships, exposure to a new donor network, and access to dozens of online fundraising tools. Additionally, they could earn as much as $3,000 in financial prizes for raising the most money.
