Bruce Almighty Star, Noel G, Hosts Music Award Ceremony, Encourages Future Musicians
Online, November 4, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Hollywood Actor and Comedian, Noel G, known for his infamous work as a gangster in 'Bruce Almighty', 'Fast and the Furious', and 'Training Day'; co-founded the 1st Annual Street Gospel Music Awards & Talent Show along with Christian Recording Artist, Second Chance. On Saturday, October 15th, 2011, they awarded groups and individuals, such as The S.O.G. Crew, with trophies topped with microphones for their faithfulness to the music ministry. Their goal was to not only recognize the long established, but to also encourage the up-and-coming musicians, dancers and music engineers into pursuing longevity in their careers. The spectacular event was held in Whittier, CA at Praise Chapel.
Awardees included: Lil' Willie G (formerly of Thee Midniters), The S.O.G. Crew, Priesthood, Jimmy Sincerely, Brother Ig, Young Pro, Joe the 4th Man, and others. The event contained performances by a few of the awardees as well as a talent show complete with judges and a music recording contract. Special guest judges included Richard T. Jones, known for his acting in 'Super 8', 'Why Did I Get Married', and "Girlfriends" (T.V. series). Lowrider Magazine reporters were present as well as media mogul, Elite TV; to cover the red carpet interviews and snaps photos of the evening.
Amongst the awardees of the hip hop genre, The S.O.G. Crew, established since 1998, exhibit the qualities of persistence and relevance in music ministry for which groups and individuals were being awarded. They are a great example to up-and-coming musicians on how to use multi-media and mobile media, to reach people with music, videos and information. In an interview, members of the group had this to say about receiving their awards: "I never thought when I was 12 years old doing music that it would ever pay off and I'd get awards!"~Battle Ax, "I love what I do! I receive this award on behalf of all the musicianaries out there working hard for God on the daily." ~Krista, "I love music and dancing, ever since I was a kid. It was my escape. I had no idea that in the future I would deejay all over the world and be getting awards!"~DJ Siren.
The 1st Annual Street Gospel Music Awards and Talent Show was inspiring! And topped with comedic gestures and stories from Noel G; the whole evening was a clear message to the public. It is of a symbolic importance to award the faithful people in our society to show the younger generation good examples of how to persist in life towards their career and in helping others. Next years' event shows promise!
