British Singer Morrissey Cancels US Tour After Getting Treated For Lung Cancer

Morrissey has been struggling with his health for over 5 years. Recently, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and has begun treatment. Regarding the situation, he stated, "If I die, I die."

Recently, the English vocalist of the band the Smiths was diagnosed with cancer. He was scheduled to go on tour in the US earlier this year but was getting treated for a respiratory infection. As a result, the American tour was canceled.

After battling from pneumonia, an ulcer, a throat condition and anemia, he was ultimately diagnosed with lung cancer. Over the last few months, he has undergone multiple surgeries to scrape out cancer cells. It is believed that his health started declining about five years ago when he passed out during a concert in London.

Following the health scare during the US tour, he wrote his fans a grim letter discussing his mortality. He explained that he intends on dying with a smile on his face.

Morrissey stated that he began noticing that he started looking unhealthy. He feels strong and content with his life. The singer said, “If I die, I die.”

He went on to explain that music isn’t meant to last forever for composers. Too many famous singers and musicians passed away before the age of 34 including the legendary stars Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

He currently has an entire Europe tour laid out. It is set to begin in Madrid, Spain on Oct. 9 and continue well into December. The singer feels up to the challenge as of current, but it’s unknown if his health can last through a strenuous tour.
