Brian Williams for President Megarally Announced
Online, July 11, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The Campaign to Get Brian Williams to Consider Running for President is excited to announce the first and only campaign mega-rally in the quest to get Brian Williams into the White House. The rally will function both as a comedy show and as a party convention, in that various political experts and very-much-non-experts will appear and make the final case to Mr. Williams as to why he should heed the echo-y call of the internet and join the campaign.
The "rally", held on Saturday July 16th at the PIT Theater in New York will feature speakers like electoral pollsters, political pundits, a talking supercomputer, our lord God, as well as a hip-hop superstar known as "brian will.i.ams". The show will have these guests talking about Brian Williams' raw, heroic appeal; show a glimpse into the secret lyrics of the NBC Nightly News theme song; as well as take a look at Brian Williams' possible running mates. God will be there to let the people know whether or not He visited Brian Williams in a dream, and brian willi.i.ams will perform a concert with Brian-Williams-focused covers of Black Eyed Peas songs.
"People like Brian Williams enough to tolerate a couple Black Eyed Peas songs, so we decided to let him do it," said campaign manager Eric Cunningham. "Plus we're giving out free campaign buttons at the rally, so that's gotta count for something."
The Brian Williams for President movement first gained steam in June when the campaign website and three television ads were unveiled, which saw pick-up on dozens of major newspapers and websites. And though Brian Williams himself responded that "The last thing this race needs is another candidate who is meticulous about his hair," the campaign believes it's that kind of humor and humility that serves as a reminder of why he's so great. He's got a real presidential level of humility, that one.
"There's still plenty of time for him to come around to the idea. 2012 is next year, but 2016 is five years away, 2020 is nine years away," said Chief of Community Organizing Zara Findlay-Shirras. "We plant the seed now, and in thirteen, seventeen years, we could see Brian Williams in the Oval Office. Maybe twenty-one years."
The event is being orchestrated by The Full Ginsburg, a New York based production house creating political-and-news-themed comedy videos. The Full Ginsburg has had their videos appear on Gawker, MSNBC, the Funny or Die frontpage and every corner of the internet. In the past, the group has held live comedy shows like the Brian Williams for President Rally, with bits by special guests like Governor Mike Huckabee and NY1's beloved anchor Pat Kiernan.
"Governor Huckabee was a really nice guy to talk to and amazingly folksy, and Pat Kiernan will forever be New York City's sweetheart," said Electoral Strategist Jared Bloom. "Though the Governor did run for president, we forgot to ask Pat. We won't make that mistake again."
The rally will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 7PM at the People's Improv Theater in New York City. Tickets can be bought online at http://www.thepit-nyc.com or at the door.
