Boston Exhibit Condemns the Psychiatric Medicating of 20 Percent of the US Population as a 'Human Rights Violation'
Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) held an exhibit that exposes what the organization calls "the history of abusive psychiatric practices". Speakers included neurologist Bharani Padmanabhan MD, Ph.D., former Boston school teacher Claudette "Petra" Joseph and author of a book on child psychiatric drugging Christopher Lloyd Garrison, a descendant of abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison.
BOSTON, March 2, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) New England presented a 185-foot-long audio-visual exhibit in Boston's Chinatown this week on what the organization calls "the history of psychiatry's abuse and false marketing campaigns".
The three speakers at the exhibit's grand opening event were neurologist Bharani Padmanabhan MD Ph.D., former Boston school teacher and state representative candidate Claudette "Petra" Joseph and author of a book on child psychiatric drugging Christopher Lloyd Garrison, a descendant of abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison.
Joseph focused on what he argued to be the harm of the psychiatric labeling and drugging of nearly nine million U.S. school children as well as how African-American children are disproportionately removed from parents by child protective services and the devastation this has caused inner city families. Joseph also spoke on how leaders like George Washington, Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein had difficulties in school that would have likely led them to being labeled with learning disorders and drugged were they alive today.
Dr. Padmanabhan, who feels that he is among a group of doctors whose licenses have been attacked by medical boards for daring to speak out against life-threatening hospital procedures, talked to the audience about how many of the doctors and psychiatrists considered opinion leaders are, in his view, more likely to have been corrupted by pharmaceutical money. An example he gave was the heavy pharmaceutical funding of child bipolar disorder research that created a psychiatric standard for medicating young children, even toddlers, with antipsychotics and psychiatric drug cocktails. A second case the doctor mentioned was the money behind Somatoform Disorder that declares how the pain you may be feeling or illness who may have is just a form of mental illness and not physical. This would, of course, allow for hospitals to stop paying for some expensive and necessary medical procedures by declaring that people simply have the problem in their heads and that they should just take an antidepressant or some other psychiatric drug. Padmanabhan stated that both of these pushes to expand the use of psychiatric drugs came out of university teaching hospitals in Boston.
Mr. Garrison's talk went into more detail on what he considers the fraudulent research and marketing of child bipolar disorder. He also enlightened the audience with data on the high frequency of birth defects from antidepressants when fetuses are drugged through their pregnant mothers and how these drugs are also connected to many cases of school violence, such as the mass shootings that seemed to almost never occur prior to the heavy use of these drugs on children. He quoted his ancestor in his commitment to the cause of stopping the use of these dangerous drugs.

"It was great to have this exhibit in Chinatown as many people in the medical and scientific community visited," said Kevin Hall, New England director of CCHR, that was established by psychiatrist Thomas Szasz and the Church of Scientology in 1969. "It is these people who ultimately will have to be the ones who revert the trend of targeting children, the elderly, prisoners, foster children and other vulnerable groups with false mental disorders and harmful drugs for profit."
