Books Ink @HamletHub Wins 2017 Connecticut Press Club Award

HamletHub is proud to announce that two members of the HamletHub team have won first place in the 2017 Connecticut Press Club Communications Contest.

Collins said, “I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to read and write about children's books. I am honored to be recognized for my work on my column.”

Westport resident, author, and Founder/Editor of Books Ink at HamletHub, Sally Allen earned the prestigious award for her Gilmore Girls column in the category of General Columns. Both “Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Bronte and Washington Irving were noted exceptional.

Jessica Collins of Ridgefield, Books Ink Contributing Editor and HamletHub writer, won top spot for her weekly feature “On the Children’s Shelf” in the Personal Opinion category. Two features, Giving Thanks for Books and Life Lessons from Harry Potter were recognized.

“Providing quality, local content that enhances the lives of our readers and makes communities better is at the core of our mission,” said HamletHub Founder, Kerry Anne Ducey.

Both Allen and Collins will accept their awards at a cocktail celebration in May at The Boathouse Restaurant in Westport.

The newly reinvigorated Press Club rewards excellence in communications in a wide range of categories. Entries in 64 categories were judged by out-of-state professionals with corresponding expertise.

Books, Ink at HamletHub features stories, essays, fiction, and poetry, all by local writers who live in and around Fairfield County, Connecticut.
