“We feel that Dan will be a key component in expanding our base of loyal customers in Cape May and Atlantic Counties, and we have every confidence that he will be an integral part of achieving that goal,” said Joseph A. Maressa, Jr., Esq., Co-Managing Member of Boardwalk Settlement Services, LLC.

The McCann Family has called Sea Isle City home for five generations, and their history is deeply rooted in real estate businesses. Dan’s grandfather, Charles A. McCann, a legendary Realtor and Appraiser, started C.A. McCann Realtors in 1939, and the company has been in operation since. Charles and his wife, Mary, had sixteen children; three of them continue the family tradition. Dan’s aunt, Grace Curran, uncle, John McCann, and father, Joseph McCann, are all agents at McCann Realtors.

The McCann Family continues to be a staple of the local economy, many of whom are in the building trades, appraisers, and even the marina business.  Dan's father, Joe McCann, also a Realtor, has been a custom home builder and remodeler for over forty years.  Dan's mother, Dr. Annmarie Young, is a highly respected physician who took care of the medical needs of the residents of Sea Isle City for 36 years before relocating to Atlantic County.

Prior to attending law school, Dan worked in the family real estate business as a third generation Realtor.  Upon his graduation from law school, Dan was selected from a large pool of applicants to clerk for the Honorable John R. Rauh, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of Cape May County.  After successfully completing his clerkship, Dan decided to put his business and real estate skills to work and opened his own firm where he specialized in land use, corporate and transactional law.  We believe Dan's experience as a Realtor, businessman, and real estate attorney make him uniquely qualified to raise the bar on customer service in the title insurance industry.

Dan received his Bachelors of Science in Economics from Saint Joseph’s University where he was a member of the men’s crew team, and he received his Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University. While pursuing his education, he was a Sea Isle City Beach Patrol lifeguard and frequent competitor in the lifeguard races; he now sits on its alumni board. Dan is most well known in the rowing community for being a member of the crew, Rock the Boat for Autism, the 1,500-mile row in the summer of ’09 that raised tens-of-thousands of dollars for various Autism based charities.

His latest challenge is becoming a member of the exclusive Seven Continents Club, a group of individuals who have successfully completed a marathon on all seven continents. Dan’s goal is to promote the Jesuit Motto, For the Greater Glory of God. Nearly halfway there, he has completed marathons in North America, Europe, and Asia — including one on the Great Wall of China.

Dan is active in his community. He is a volunteer track and field coach for the Sea Isle City Islanders — the Cape May County Special Olympics Team. He is a Knight of Columbus, and pro bono counsel for victims of domestic violence.
