BELAY and Plywood People Announce New Community Partnership

BELAY and Plywood People Proud to Partner to Support Underserved Local Startup Community

BELAY, a virtual staffing company that offers remote bookkeeping, web support and executive assistant services, announced today that they will be partnering with Plywood People, a local nonprofit leading a community of startups doing good.

The partnership serves as an opportunity to support and serve the local Atlanta community by solving problems that impact its culture: the hurting, poor, oppressed and under-resourced people.

"Our vision is that those who are solving a problem in our world will plug into the Plywood People community as they launch, scale and sustain their idea," said Jeff Shinabarger, executive director of Plywood People.

With BELAY's core values based on Biblical principles, its founders, husband-and-wife team Bryan and Shannon Miles, believe that all people should be treated with respect and dignity, seeing their leadership as stewardship.

"BELAY has a huge heart for organizations that tirelessly work to 'do good' for others. It didn't take long to determine who we could partner with in stewarding our dollars and volunteer time for 2019. Plywood People is a great organization who is leading others in doing good in so many ways. We are proud to partner with Jeff and the Plywood People team to accelerate their work," said Bryan Miles, CEO and co-founder of BELAY.

Plywood People supports communities by providing coaching, training, mentorship and inspiration to founders of projects for social good. Through ongoing events, digital curriculums, three-month incubators and 12-month mastermind groups, it helps founders bring problem-solving ideas from clouds to concrete.

"Partnering with BELAY is exciting for Plywood People because we value collaborating with teams who re-imagine how we do business," said Shinabarger. "BELAY's culture and services make running a business more accessible, so our hope is to see this partnership result in better work and more good for the startups in our community and beyond."

Adding to the excitement is the completion of Plywood People's new building - due to be finished by the end of the year - as a means to serve more startups through the new center for social innovation.

"It's been really fun to watch Plywood's influence grow not just in Atlanta but worldwide. Their vision has created a movement of social entrepreneurs who wouldn't have existed 10 years ago. The construction of this new space takes their commitment to new heights. It creates more space to serve more people, it fosters an environment of creativity and drives the importance of community. We could not be more proud to be a small part of that journey," said Lisa Zeeveld, BELAY CFO.

Shannon Miles, BELAY CEO and co-founder, adds, "While BELAY is a 100 percent distributed company, we use locations throughout Atlanta to get our corporate team together from time to time. This is one of the many reasons we're excited about Plywood's new location. It is going to be such a functional, creative and relational space that will enhance many organizations' abilities to 'Make Better Possible.'"
