Beatthebrochure Reports 200% Increases in Egypt and Turkey Holidays

Figures released by holiday firm Beatthebrochure reveal there has been a 'huge boom' in non-Eurozone holidays. There has been a 200% increase in bookings to Egypt and Turkey as a result of the fluctuating Euro and current economic climate.

Egypt used to be an exotic medium haul holiday destination, only available to people with plenty of cash to spare. Today it's fast becoming one of the UK's most popular places for a holiday in the sun. The same goes for Turkey, once an unusual place to take a break that now comes close to the top of UK travellers' list. In fact online holiday experts Beatthebrochure are experiencing a flood of requests for holidays in Egypt and holidays in Turkey, with bookings up 200% over last year. So what's going on?

When countries like Greece adopted the Euro, they probably didn't expect their tourist industry to be affected so dramatically. But the Eurozone has suffered recently as the Euro fluctuates and economies nosedive. Places that were once flourishing destinations outside Europe, with their own currency, are finding that cash conscious holidaymakers are heading outside the Eurozone for bargain holidays. Where once a Greek holiday was one of the cheapest options available, joining the Euro has meant prices have rocketed. Food, drink and entertainment now cost a lot more relative to those happy pre-Euro days. It's easy to see why people are opting for a holiday to Turkey or Egypt.

Daniel Ox, Beatthebrochure's Director of E-commerce, says, "We've seen a massive 200% increase in demand for holidays in Turkey and holidays in Egypt so far. Even though Egypt is a medium haul destination, further to travel, people are flocking there in their tens of thousands in search of the sun. Turkey, on the brink of becoming a member of the EU, is just as popular with its delightful beaches, beautiful resorts and stunning scenery."

Tourism in Egypt is nothing new. But this is the first time it has become accessible to so many ordinary people. And the country has stepped smartly up to the mark, meeting extra demand with gorgeous new resorts and excellent facilities. Beatthebrochure's most popular choices for Egypt include holidays to Cairo; jam packed with ancient history as well as one of Africa's finest destinations for shopaholics. There's also Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh holidays, both superb for water sports, diving in particular. And there's Taba, a haven of golden beaches, warm waters, friendly locals and - again, unparalleled water sports facilities.

Turkey is only about four hours' flight time from the UK but you couldn't ask for a more exotic destination. Layered with ten thousand years of human history and full of fascinating antiquities, holidays to Turkey also deliver clubbing, partying and beach holidays to die for. Marmaris, Antalya and Istanbul holidays are among the most popular choices. Unlike much of the Eurozone, whether you choose a Turkey holiday or holidays in Egypt, you can rest assured that the weather will be spectacular. Sun, sun and more sun.

Beatthebrochure is expecting to see this increase in popularity continue as the economic slowdown rumbles on and price remains an important factor in choosing a holiday. "A 200% increase in popularity is dramatic in itself, but there's no sign of things slowing down" explains Ox. "In fact we're fully expecting the percentage to increase as the 2010 holiday season heats up".
