Bankrupt Powell Volvo Now Volvo of Tempe

Online, January 10, 2011 (Newswire.com) - After a recent Arizona Bankruptcy Court decision and selection by Volvo, Thurston Dealer Group has now taken ownership of Volvo of Tempe, previously named, Powell Volvo. Powell Volvo filed for Chapter 11 in February and had not sold a vehicle in over 18 months. Upon new ownership on December 20th, 2010, vehicle service was the dealerships only functioning department.

Thurston Dealer Group immediately ordered and is now selling new and pre-owned Volvo models, breathing much needed life into the previously vacant car lot on Scottsdale's Motor Mile. However, the revived location on McDowell road will be short-lived and only serve as development until the dealer relocates to its permanent location in the Tempe Autoplex.

Volvo of Tempe is one of only two Volvo dealerships in the valley and is undergoing a major revamp to provide full customer accommodations in the service, parts and sales departments. The Thurston Dealer Group is confident that carrying brand new models, providing complimentary snacks and beverages, and welcoming a renovated, newly-designed location will build a new foundation for future and existing customers.
