Bakersfield Dental Expert Promotes ADA's New Consumer Site
Online, July 23, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The American Dental Association debuted its new website for consumers: MouthHealthy.
Recently the ADA conducted a consumer survey measuring Americans' knowledge of oral health. Americans scored a 60 percent on average, which in grading terms is a "D."
Dr. Joseph Marvizi, a Bakersfield dental specialist, wants to promote this new, informative website to American dental patients.
Survey participants were informed about gingivitis, pregnancy and dental health, and the changes that occur as people age, according to the ADA. The survey results showed that Americans knew the least about children's dental health, sugar's role in cavity development, and brushing after every meal.
The ADA separates topics on oral health at MouthHealthy by life stages. The categories include: pregnancy, babies and kids, preteens and teens, adults younger than 40, adults ages 40-60 and adults older than 60. These categories provide consumers with relevant information specific to their current situation.
ADA's Find-A-Dentist is a feature of MouthHealthy that allows consumers to browse ADA member dentists in their area to find their local general dentistry provider. A variety of topics are covered on MouthHealthy such as baby teeth, dentures, root canal procedures, gum disease, dental sealants and thumb sucking. The ADA is using MouthHealthy as an educational tool that provides information on oral health and its benefits.
MouthHealthy also features a section of the website where ADA certified dental products are arranged by category: Denture Products, Floss and Interdental Cleaners, Mouth Rinses, Tooth Whitening Bleaches, Toothbrushes and Toothpastes. This section helps consumers compare products within each category by description, product image, the basis for acceptance and ADA Seal Statement.
MouthHealthy offers a complete Spanish translation with a toggle button located at the top of the webpage.
