The State of Florida made red light cameras legal in 2010, but many municipalities have since banned them in light of backlash from the public, lawsuits and court rulings that have found the devices to be unconstitutional. In 2015, the Florida Supreme Court denied an appeal a lower court ruling involving the City of Hollywood and how its private contractor decided which drivers were ticketed.
