Award Winning Rock School
Online, January 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - School of Rock and Pop, the newest and coolest national 'out of school activity', is calling on 11 to 18 year old rock musicians to a try out for a place at their centres
Whilst the School of Rock and Pop emphasis is on fun and building confidence, the underlying mission is to develop individual style and skill.
Director of Curriculum Andrew Meadowcroft said, "We cater for a range of ages and ability, including absolute beginners and work with guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals.'
"Sessions are designed to stretch each one of our students. As soon as they're playing in a band their confidence soars and so does their talent. This results in the highest grade exams marks and great concert performances."
He added, "Most artistes owe their success to the chances they were given when they were young. Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong & Mike Dirnt formed their first band when they were 14, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers were formed by three school chums.'
'Our sessions are lead by music professionals who want young people to develop vital music skills and increase their chances in the music business.'
Tutor Keith Peberdy has worked with musicians such as Sting, the Rolling Stones, Jools Holland, Squeeze, Anastacia, Robbie Williams, Travis, Eurythmics, Elvis Costello, Liberty X, as well as featuring on the No.1 hit single and Comic Relief anthem, 'Is this the way to Amarillo'.
He said "Rock and Pop music is an all-consuming dream for many teenagers. Our sessions combine professional music tuition with the opportunity to perform - it's a chance to meet likeminded teenagers and really rock out in a way that can't be done at home"
Andrew Meadowcroft added, "We currently have centres in Newcastle, Durham, Stockton, Darlington, Harrogate, York, Leeds, Stockport, Sale, Bolton and Blackpool. In Spring 2012 we will open in Nottingham, Warwick, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton and Stourbridge
