Author Jana Petken Becomes a Solid Hit with Historical Fiction Audiences on Amazon

Author Jana Petken has seen her seminal first book, "The Guardian of Secrets," named as one of reader's favourite top five historical reads on Amazon.

Readers who enjoy her brand of sophisticated, enjoyable historical fiction have reacted by positively reviewing her book in overwhelming numbers. Petken, a resident of Spain, who released "The Guardian of Secrets" in late 2013, has enjoyed a remarkable year with constant sales, highly attended signing sessions and talk of a movie adaptation of her critically acclaimed first book “The Guardian of Secrets.”

The Guardian of Secrets” is an historical family saga spanning four generations, from 1912, Kent, England, to Spain and its 1936–39 civil war. Celia and Ernesto’s two sons march under opposing banners, whilst their daughters take different paths, one to the Catholic Church and the other to the battlefields; and in the shadow of war, an evil ghost from the past watches and waits for an opportunity to destroy the entire family. In exile, Celia and Ernesto can only wait and pray for their children and their safe return home.

Kirkus praised "The Guardian of Secrets" recently calling Petken's writing "captivating" and "constantly engaging" with special praise for her lead character Celia. "Celia's growth as a character truly sets this novel apart as more than a simple drama: It's also a commentary on how strong a woman can become when facing adversity." They went on to close their review by calling "The Guardian of Secrets" "A suspenseful, compelling historical novel."

The recently released second Petken novel, “Mercy Carver,” has continued her upward trajectory with strong sales and critical acclaim.

The Guardian of Secrets” is available now on Amazon as both a paperback and as a Kindle download.
