Austin's Newest Race Features 5k and 10k and Is Family and Dog-Friendly
Online, April 16, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Break out your running shoes and join Austin's fantastic running community at the city's newest race, the Silicon Labs Sunshine Run, on Sunday April 27th. The race is coordinated by the Austin's Young Men's Business League, a non-profit which supports the Austin Sunshine Camps, a local charity which provides free summer camp and afterschool programs to at-risk youth.
Until this year, Austin's Young Men's Business League had teamed up with the restaurant Schlotzsky's to host the annual Bun Run, a staple in the Austin racing community for 31 years. While Schlotzsky's has moved the Bun Run to another date and has changed the beneficiary, the Young Men's Business League will continue the spring run tradition supporting the Austin Sunshine Camps and providing a fun event for the community.
The new name for the race is the Silicon Labs Sunshine Run and it remains on one of the fastest 10k courses in downtown Austin for all the runners looking to bump up their times!
Some of Austin's most innovative and civic-minded organizations have offered their support, including the title sponsor, Silicon Labs. [Quote from someone at Silicon Labs] "It's an honor to support two wonderful organizations and to help keep the race that we've grown up with here for XX more years," said Soandso Smith.
