Austin Vocalist, Dena Taylor, Wins the 2014 IMC Best Female Jazz Artist Award

Austin vocalist, Dena Taylor, has been honored with the 2014 IMC Best Female Jazz Artist for her new release, The Nearness of You.

On Sunday night in the historic Whisky A Go Go (Los Angeles, CA), Austin vocalist was honored with the 2014 IMC Best Female Jazz Artist for her new release, The Nearness of You.

The entire award weekend was kicked off by a welcome party for all nominees, their guests and industry standards at the W Hotel in Hollywood Blvd. It was an incredible gathering of international musicians from as far away as Sweden and Nigeria .. all of whom are independent artists making incredible music without the benefit or backing of the record label industry.

Taylor was one of March's Top 5 Vocalists at SingerUniverse. She was selected just weeks after the release of The Nearness of You on February 14th.

A review of the new release, The Nearness of You, written by Bree Noble of Women of Substance Radio. In it she said, "Listening to Dena Taylor's new album "The Nearness of You" is like eavesdropping on a conversation between two lovers. The ease of the "back and forth" exchange between Dena and the jazz ensemble demonstrates their commitment to each other and the integrity of the music."

"Indie Music Channel" was created by Emmy Award winning TV host, actor & model, Christopher Ewing. "I created the Indie Music Channel and 'The Radio Cafe' radio show because I have always felt that there needed to be more support for independent artists and their music. There are a lot of really talented singers and bands out here whose music isn't getting enough radio play, if at all, mostly because they aren't signed to a big record deal with a major label. Whether these singers or bands have a record deal or not, they still have AWESOME music that deserves to be heard on the radio and on television and now, through the Indie Music Channel, there is an outlet for them to get their music played."
