Athenian's Scholl to Share His Life Science Business Expertise in Two Keynote Addresses

Athenian Venture Partners announced today that Dr. David Scholl, partner, will share his experiences successfully growing and exiting a life science firm at two events in late February and early March.

WHAT: Athenian Venture Partners, a venture capital firm specializing in investments in information technology and healthcare companies in Ohio and across the United States, announced today that Dr. David Scholl, partner, will share his experiences successfully growing and exiting a life science firm at two events in late February and early March.

Scholl will be the keynote presenter at the 2013 West Virginia Bioscience Summit on Thursday, February 28, and at the Nationwide Children's Hospital 2013 Technology Showcase on Thursday, March 14.

WHY: With investment in life sciences companies in 2012 seeing its lowest levels since 1995, according to the Pricewaterhouse Coopers MoneyTree Report, it's important for entrepreneurs in the industry to focus on what can set them and their technology apart from the pack. This differentiation is critical to gain the attention of investors and start off on the best path to commercial success in order to achieve the next stage of growth necessary to sustain a business.

Scholl's keynote addresses will pull from his experience building Diagnostic Hybrids, a developer and manufacturer of cellular and molecular diagnostic kits, from a four-person startup to a world leader in cell-based and Monoclonal Antibody-based diagnostics. Scholl will explain roadblocks the company faced along the way, and how they successfully followed the path from incubation to exit. He will also discuss how Ohio has developed a more favorable environment for technology-based companies through state assistance and programs that are competitively available to entrepreneurs today.
