AST&L Announces New Distinguished Logistics Professional
Chicago, July 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Board of Directors of the American Society of Transportation & Logistics® has approved Terry Brown for the prestigious Distinguished Logistics Professional (DLP) designation. The DLP recognizes the upper echelon of logistics professionals who have shown their mastery through significant and career-long contributions to the industry.
Brown was nominated by Robert Wood, DLP, Dean of the Division of Continuing Education at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville. “Terry's deep knowledge of the logistics and supply chain industry is incredible. He is a respected figure in the transportation and logistics community and is often asked for advice. He served on our Dean's Advisory Council and has been instrumental in supporting logistics and supply chain training at UNF,” stated Dean Wood during the presentation ceremony. “He is a firm believer in continuing education and has provided numerous training opportunities for his employees. Robert Wood, DLP, University of North Florida (UNF)
After more than 20 years working directly in the logistics industry, Brown recently retired from Diversified Port Holdings (DPH), formerly known as ICS Logistics, and its affiliated companies where he was the president. DPH is an asset based logistics company, owning companies that operate in all points of the logistics network including dry and temperature controlled warehouses, stevedoring, terminal and marine services. DPH also provides services to military operations and has locations in Jacksonville and Port Everglades, Florida, Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. Brown’s previous experience includes consulting with perishable industry members as well as serving as vice president of operations for the Carmar Group prior to its sale in 1998. He has extensive experience in the perishable logistics industry and has served for several years on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses and World Food Logistics Organization. He is a certified public accountant.
