The conference will be officially opened by Rop Gonggrijp, well known Dutch hacker and activist who founded XS4All in 1993 - the first ISP to offer private individuals access to the Internet in The Netherlands. More recently, in 2006, Gonggrijp founded the organization "Wij vertrouwen stemcomputers niet" ("We do not trust voting computers") which campaigned successfully against the use of electronic voting systems without a Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail and showed how the Nedap voting machines could be compromised. On May 16, 2008 the Dutch government decided that elections in the Netherlands would be held using paper ballots and red pencil only. A proposal to develop a new generation of voting computers was also subsequently rejected.
Following Gonggrijp's Welcome Address on Day 1, Dr. Anton Chuvakin, will deliver the first keynote on 'The Security Chasm'. Dr. Chuvakin is one of the world's foremost experts on enterprise log management and digital signature compliance for the payment card industry.
On Day 2, 15-year industry veteran and current Director of Security Tools at Microsoft, Mark Curphey, will start the day with a keynote on '10 Crazy Ideas That Might Actually Change the State of Information Security'. Mark Curphey is the founder of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) - an organization focused on improving the security of application software. Prior to joining Microsoft, Curphey was previously Vice President at Foundstone, a division of McAfee.
In total, 43 cutting edge IT security topics will be presented over the two conference days (1 and 2 July) by more then 30 speakers from Europe, Asia and America. The public are welcome to visit the exhibition area for free and those attending the conference talks can register online or walk-in to register.
