The Fantastic Realism exhibit captivates provocative and imaginative artworks in a variety of media from local and international artist. Born in Coimbra, Portugal, Santiago Ribeiro, 49, has organized and participated in numerous individual and collective art exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. He is the founder, in 2010, of the International Surrealism Now project, recognized by artists in 27 countries, dedicated to the promotion of surrealism as an art form. His work is represented in several private collections, namely the Collection of Contemporary Art of the National Museum Machado de Castro and in the Bissaya Barreto Foundation in Coimbra, Portugal. After, since 2008, showed to the world its dreamlike and surreal work through the new age of internet and exhibiting in various cities and European capitals like Paris, Lisbon, Warsaw, Moscow, Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Florence, Nantes, Belgrade, Tuzla (Bósnia and Herzegovina), Timisoara (Romania) and also in cities from Montenegro and Macedonia is now for the first time in United States. The invitation to USA comes from the Santiago´s artist friend Magi Calhoun from Texas that makes part of the very known project International Surrealism Now that is a creation of Santiago Ribeiro. Ribeiro is an artist devoted to the promotion of 21st century international surrealism. His project reunites both Portuguese and global artists through a series of exhibits. 'International Surrealism Now' began in 2010 in Coimbra, where Ribeiro prepared a major exhibition funded through the Bissaya Barreto Foundation. Santiago Ribeiro lives and works in Coimbra, Portugal and in Paris, France.
