Arts & Business Council Presents a Morning with Nonprofit Sector Innovator Dan Pallotta
Online, April 9, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Join the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia on April 23, 2014 for an event featuring Dan Pallotta, expert in nonprofit sector innovation and a pioneering social entrepreneur. Pallotta will discuss themes from his book Uncharitable, arguing that society's nonprofit ethic undermines our ability to eradicate great problems, and ironically, puts charity at a severe disadvantage to the for-profit sector at every level.
Dan Pallotta is the founder of Pallotta TeamWorks, which invented the multiday AIDSRides and Breast Cancer 3-Days; the president of Advertising for Humanity; and the author of three books including Charity Case: How the Nonprofit Community Can Stand Up For Itself and Really Change the World. He is also a distinguished lecturer whose 2013 Ted Talk has been viewed more than 3 million times. On April 23, 2014, Dan Pallotta will speak to audiences at the National Museum of American Jewish History on the importance of financial support and stability in the nonprofit sector.
In an effort to ignite innovative nonprofit fundraising, the Arts & Business Council, in partnership with Community Recycling, is collecting shoes to raise funds to support our capacity-building services for the arts. Community Recycling is an organization based in Fairless Hills, PA which takes unwanted, gently-used clothing and shoes and recycles them, keeping thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills. Their ShoeBox program, which the Arts & Business Council is participating in, allows partners to receive funding based on pounds of shoes collected. Recycling boxes can be requested by calling 215.790.3688 or shoes can dropped off at any Arts & Business Council event through June 2014.
Uncharitable with Dan Pallotta will take place from 8:00-10:00am at the National Museum of American Jewish History, 101 South Independence Mall East, Philadelphia, PA.
