Artist-to-the-Stars, Amadea Bailey, Paired with Frank Gehry Architecture
Online, July 20, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Los Angeles, California-The paintings of Los Angeles artist Amadea Bailey are now being showcased at Dennis Hopper's home in Venice, California. The home, going on sale within the week, is an architectural gem designed by Frank Gehry who modeled it after his own home in Santa Monica in the 1970's. Meredith Baer and Associates, one of the foremost interior design and staging companies in Los Angeles, uses Bailey's paintings for her most exclusive jobs. "Amadea's work is very sophisticated and extremely upscale. It is strong, bold, and uplifting," says Lisa Vail, one of the designers, "and raises the tone of any space we put it in. I have often used her work as the centerpiece of a room".
"This house is extraordinary," says Bailey, "it's an artist's dream". The exterior is clad in a corrugated iron and has a split-level interior. It is both elegant and industrial at the same time. Unusual elements include a broken glass floor in an atrium that looks down to the level below. Bailey's large-scale works look as if Hopper had hand-picked them for the spaces they fill.
Bailey, an expressionist painter trained at Yale University, worked for many years in industrial spaces in New York City and Brooklyn. She now lives in Mar Vista, where she designed and built her own stunning studio from the ground up. She has shown in numerous galleries across the country. Halle Berry is one of her most ardent fans and owns six of her large works. "The minute I saw her work, I was instantly drawn to it," says the Academy Award winning actress. "It is very emotional-there is something about it that I connect to because so much of Amadea's soul and spirit is in her work".
Seeing Bailey's artwork in these magnificent surroundings is a true pleasure and not to be missed.
People can see Bailey's work in Hopper's home during an open house, which will take place July 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 330 Indiana Avenue in Venice, Calif.
