Artist Applications Now Being Accepted for The 2016 American Craft Exposition Presented by The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem

The 32nd annual American Craft Exposition (ACE) is now accepting artist applications for its 2016 Show. A juried exposition and sale of fine craft, ACE features one-of-a-kind pieces, luxury collections and uniquely creative artwork from the country’s finest artisans. Presented by The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore), ACE will once again be held at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Ill., the weekend of September 23 – 25, 2016, with the Benefit Preview Party being held on Thursday, September 22nd.

ACE is a nationally recognized and celebrated event presented by a volunteer committee that works year-round to bring both artists and patrons a truly memorable experience. Last year’s inaugural Show at the Chicago Botanic Garden welcomed more than 8,500 patrons through its doors, including more than 75 local high school students who had the opportunity to experience the artistry and expertise of the talented ACE artisans at several live demonstrations and informative lectures.

Approximately 140 craft artists will be chosen to participate in this year’s ACE to showcase new achievements in jewelry, ceramics, metal, fashion wearables, glass, furniture, fiber decorative, leather, wood, mixed media and baskets. In addition to featuring unique pieces from award-winning craftspeople, ACE is committed to fostering the next generation of artists. Those who have been practicing their craft for less than six years and who have never exhibited at ACE are encourage to apply for the emerging artist category, which will be juried separately from the other applicants. The deadline for all artists to submit their applications is March 11, 2016.

All proceeds from ACE 2016 will support NorthShore’s innovative pharmacogenomics research. Funds raised will allow researchers to analyze and predict how patients react to medications based on genetic variants. This information can be used to customize medical treatments, ensuring that patients receive the right drug in the right dose the first time, minimizing the side effects and adverse reactions to drugs for patients.

ACE 2016 will begin on Thursday, September 22 with a Benefit Preview Party from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The Show runs throughout the weekend:  Friday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance for a single three-day pass and $45 for two three-day passes. Both options include one day of parking at the Garden. For more information, please visit americancraftexpo.org or call (224) 364-7270.
