Armory CTO Isaac Mosquera Elected to Bring Voice of Customer to the Spinnaker Steering Committee

Armory CTO Isaac Mosquera

Armory, the enterprise software company commercializing Spinnaker, announced today that CTO Isaac Mosquera has joined the Spinnaker Steering Committee, nominated by Andy Glover, Director of Productivity Engineering at Netflix and Spinnaker's founding champion.

2020 has seen a surge in activity for Spinnaker, a trending open source continuous delivery platform, with an average of 3587 GitHub events happening weekly, 302% of average weekly events in 2018 and 2019. Weekly pull requests to Spinnaker are up 60% in 2020, and Armory’s strategic partnerships with AWS, RedHat, Splunk, NewRelic, VMWare, and other SDLC companies have generated new interest from companies such as Discovery, Inc., LaunchDarkly, and Xero, who seek a collaborative platform to accelerate software delivery with complex requirements.

Glover stated, “Isaac has led an engineering and product team engaged in the Spinnaker community for three years. He co-founded Armory to help enterprises innovate through happy & productive engineering teams.” Since Armory works directly with companies who implement and scale Spinnaker, Mosquera will bring the voice of the customer to the committee along with his deep knowledge of resilience architecture for large-scale enterprise software systems.

As CTO of Amory, Isaac’s engineering leadership has helped turn Spinnaker into a highly extensible platform through the introduction of plugins. Since the plugin framework’s April beta launch, many plugins have already been created to solve specific use cases for customers using Spinnaker for SDLC collaboration, including plugins from HashiCorp and Pulumi, and several end-users. This extensibility preserves Spinnaker’s reputation as a true multi-cloud platform, as it’s now easier than ever for cloud providers to invest in cloud drivers for endpoints such as Kubernetes services and AWS’s Lambda.

“I spend a lot of time with Spinnaker users,” said Mosquera, “and I’m honored to join the Steering Committee to represent them, along with Armory customers who invest in Spinnaker to safely accelerate software delivery to achieve technology and business goals.”

Exciting days lie ahead for the Spinnaker community, as the project delivers an ever-richer Kubernetes-native declarative experience to enable GitOps workflows for developers, and pilots projects like Netflix’s Managed Delivery. As a member of the Steering Committee, Isaac will drive development of guiding principles, community programs, and a roadmap of user stories that Netflix, Google, AWS, and other stakeholders can fully invest in.
