Arkansas Bank Pledges $100,000 to Low-Income, First-Generation Scholar Fund

Generations Bank Will Provide $100,000 to the Fleischer Scholars Program at the University of Arkansas

Generations Bank, with locations throughout the state, has pledged a donation of 100,000 dollars to the Fleischer Scholars Program within the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. The donation will financially assist two low-income, first-generation college students, throughout a five year period, who intend on pursuing degrees in business.

The Fleischer Scholars Program is a week-long summer residential program serving high school juniors and seniors who work in teams to develop business plans and work with business professionals at the University of Arkansas campus, according to the program website. Students in the Fleischer Scholars Program learn skills to succeed and overcome socioeconomic challenges.

“Thanks to Generations Bank, more promising students will be able to take advantage of an academic program that gives back to Arkansas communities as it helps the students to grow and learn,” said Matthew A. Waller, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, as published in a press release distributed by the university. “By investing in our students, Generations Bank is investing in the future of Arkansas.”

The Fleischer Scholars Program fosters commitment and entrepreneurial growth for Arkansas communities, according to the program website. The scholarships funded by Generations Bank will give preference to students from Washington, Benton, Calhoun and Ouachita Counties, as well as the community of Junction City.
