APCON Signs Distribution Agreement with testworX Canada

Company now offering complete line of APCON network solutions, including new aggregation and filtering product INTELLAFLEX™

WILSONVILLE, Oregon USA - September 29, 2009 - APCON, Inc., a leading manufacturer of integrated switching solutions, today entered into a distribution agreement with testworX, Inc. that allows the company to market APCON's full line of technology throughout Canada.

Headquartered in Ontario, testworX is now selling APCON's flagship product line, INTELLAPATCH® Series 3000 switches with the new INTELLAFLEX™ Packet Aggregator blade, as well as the widely adopted Series 2000 matrix switches. It also will be selling TITAN ENTERPOINT™, the industry's first centralized point of control for managing connectivity between Layer 2/3 switches and network analysis equipment.

"We are pleased to have testworX as part of the APCON reseller team," said Clayton Stearns, International Sales Manager at APCON. "testworX has a proven track record in providing complex network visibility and monitoring solutions. Canada is an important, growing market for APCON."

"Canadian business and government entities have been seeking a combined matrix switching and packet aggregation solution such as INTELLAFLEX. It will be a welcomed asset in the monitoring inventories of the country's enterprises, many of which are beginning to experience renewed growth," said Brent Inwood, Senior Account Manager at testworX. "They will benefit as well from APCON's other proven hardware and software solutions."

testworX has already exhibited APCON solutions at the NETcomm Atlantic trade show in Halifax, NS, and has planned several seminars later this year. These will demonstrate the benefits of APCON-based matrix switching and comprehensive network monitoring in enterprise, service provider and telecom lab environments. The products to be showcased include the following.

INTELLAFLEX is a Packet Aggregator blade that adds aggregation and filtering capability to APCON's INTELLAPATCH Series 3000 matrix switch. This blade allows users to aggregate multiple data links from network SPAN, Tap or mirror ports, and filter and direct the desired traffic to specific monitoring devices. In this way, users are able to electronically share expensive monitoring devices (such as analyzers and intrusion detection systems) - often across multiple locations - while preventing oversubscription and data loss.

INTELLAFLEX offers the highest port density in a single chassis - supporting up to 120 ports in a 4U chassis - accommodating large enterprises that typically have hundreds of mirror ports in their networks. INTELLAFLEX also offers the highest port aggregation density, with a maximum of 48 1G and 32 10G ports available for aggregation in a single chassis.

INTELLAPATCH Series 3000 Switches

INTELLAPATCH Series 3000 is APCON's flagship switching product line. Designed for today's most demanding enterprise data center environments, these chassis offer high density blades - 1U high with 36 ports each - that deliver exceptional functionality while providing data center space savings. Users can now have 144 ports of non-blocking, any-to-any matrix switching in a 4U chassis, delivering 100 percent visibility to thousands of critical network segments.

A key feature of the Series 3000 is its fault-tolerant controller cards with automatic failover. Unlike switches with single controllers that can halt network operations during a failure, the high availability failover capacity of the Series 3000 allows it to be used in-line, in the production network of an enterprise. Series 3000 chassis are modular, offering hot-swappable power supplies and field-replaceable fans, as well as hitless software upgrades and a host of advanced diagnostic features.
Series 3000 switches allow secure, remote web-accessible access for multiple users. Security features include TACACS+, RADIUS and SNMP v1/2c/3 support; SSL and SSH encryption; logic preventing SPAN port loops; and embedded software.

INTELLAPATCH Series 2000 Switches

The Series 2000 family represents the original INTELLAPATCH switch, providing up to 16 ports per blade in a 1-inch blade height. The product line is available in five chassis sizes, ranging from 16 to 288 ports each. Chassis feature hot-swappable blades and transceivers, and all offer non-blocking, any-to-any switching architectures.
With a compact design that saves valuable rack space, INTELLAPATCH Series 2000 chassis provide up to 288 ports of any-to-any connectivity, always at full line speed. The Series 2000 chassis can be populated with any Series 2000 blade including 1, 2, 4 and 10 Gbps Fibre Channel, Ethernet from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps, T1/E1/J1, DS3/E3/STS-1, SONET/SDH, FDDI and digital video.

TITAN EnterPoint

EnterPoint delivers functionality long sought after in enterprise environments: a single, centralized point of control for network monitoring activities. It enables IT staff to manage connectivity between Layer 2/3 switches and network analysis equipment more efficiently - helping make the standard of "five-nines" network performance more attainable.

Among its key features is a screen that allows the user to establish a monitoring session between any SPAN, Tap or mirror port and an analysis device, with only a few mouse clicks. Also available is the ability to build, store and share SPAN configurations - a feature that takes several steps out of the typical process used to create a monitoring session. Further, EnterPoint provides IT managers with an automated method for tracking monitoring activity, as well as device usage and inventory. For the first time, management can accurately measure the level of device utilization, leading to fact-based decision making about whether additional capital investments are justified.
