"Antar Karagaar Pratiyogita Prashnotri" - A Quiz For Inmates At Tihar Jail

It was a lifetime experience and I would love to come to Tihar again for such an event.

India's premier Quiz design and hosting company QuizWorks conducted a quiz for Tihar Jail in association with Samarpan Foundation on 29th June, 2012 at Central Jail No.2, Tihar , Delhi. Samarpan Foundation is a non-profit charitable trust that provides help and assistance to people and animals, and to restore our environment. The quiz competition, or "Antar Karagaar Pratiyogita Prashnotri" is an annual event funded by Samarpan Foundation under their "Injustice for Justice" project as an engagement activity for inmates. This year Quizworks got this special opportunity to hold the event, titled "Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahi" .

There were multiple teams from Jail No.1 to Jail No. 8 and ninth team from Rohini District Jail. Jail No. 6 was represented by an all women team. The teams had three members each and had names such as Vishwas , Aastha , Kalpana , Vaibhav , etc. Each team had fifteen people supporting them in audience from their respective jails. The event kicked off with lighting of the lamp by the Jail Superintendent. The stage was then handed over to Harneet Singh, Quizmaster of the day. He started the programme by enthralling the audiences with his witty remarks. The real show began with the elimination round to shortlist top five teams with questions such as: "Ramakant Achrekar is the guru of which famous Indian?", "Which famous Indian car is known as Mehraan in Pakistan?"

It was a nail biting finish with three teams tied on same score with the last question left on buzzer. At the end, team from Jail No. 1 emerged victorious and a tie breaker question was asked to decide the runners up between Jail No. 4 and 8 in which team from Jail No. 4 held their nerves. The winning team was awarded 5000 each, runners-up 2500 each and second runners-up 1000 each and the same were deposited in their jail bank accounts.

Also, each of the 27 participants received T-shirts and stationary products. The audience also showed an exemplary enthusiasm during the whole show as they received prizes for correctly answering audience questions. The programme ended with high tea served for the organizing team.

Tarun Yadav, Welfare Officer who was the chief organiser congratulated the whole team for an entertaining show. Roohi Sharma, Project Head for "injustice for Justice", Samarpan Foundation thanked QuizWorks for a lively event. Harneet Singh, quizmaster of the day remarked: "It was a lifetime experience and I would love to come to Tihar again for such an event". QuizWorks was proud to be a part of this initiative and hopes to continue this social endeavor in future.
