Annual International Symposium on Cognitive Research & Disorders Announced for February 2018
ISCRD 2018 is scheduled for February 26-27, 2018, in St. Augustine, Florida
JACKSONVILLE, FL, May 1, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The annual International Symposium on Cognitive Research & Disorders has been confirmed for February 2018 to educate professionals on mental and developmental conditions that will affect 94 percent of the world’s population in the next 20 years.
A rising need for collaborative sharing and education in cognitive disorders spurred the creation of the two-day TED Talk-style event, which is confirmed for Feb. 26-27 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. Following a sold-out event in February 2017, over 1,200 education and healthcare providers are expected to come together in 2018 to learn from top researchers and thought leaders. A select 35 presenters will include cognitive scientists, neurosurgeons, master educators and top researchers from around the world. The annual conference is hosted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), a global leader in training and credentialing professionals who work with individuals with special needs.

The symposium is designed for attendees to be able to have an immediate impact on their communities in improving lives of individuals with cognitive disorders. Each “talk” is 25 minutes long, with breakout sessions available to dive into topics for a deeper level of understanding. An Innovation Zone will feature a collection of top innovative and advanced companies in both education and healthcare, showcasing research in a hands-on and interactive environment that will allow attendees to see the latest therapies available.
In 2017, ISCRD produced the first live-telecast brain surgery through Baptist Health, which was conducted by Jacksonville Neurologist Dr. Ricardo Hanel. Over 500 participants viewed the telecast onsite, while webcast participants from around the world looked on from their computer screens.

Attendees will include teachers, physicians, behavior specialists, speech language pathologists, researchers, special education/school administrators, nurses, chiropractors, occupational and physical therapists and those who work or volunteer within the cognitive disability field.
Competencies the symposium will focus on include: Parkinson’s, Soft Skills, Stroke and Cognition, Suicide, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Eating Disorders, Executive Function, Inclusion, Depression, Alzheimer’s, Autism, ADD/ADHD, Dementia and Differentiated Instruction.
