An Exclusive Chance To View The Original Painting "Conan The Destroyer" By Frank Frazetta
Online, February 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators is proud to announce a rare opportunity to view the original oil painting "Conan the Destroyer" by legendary artist Frank Frazetta.
Frank Frazetta (1928-2010), the fantasy painter and illustrator whose muscular, bloodied heroes and shapely heroines have inspired and influenced generations of artists, has become a modern legend in the realm of fantasy art. His comic books, movie posters and paperback book covers lure viewers into worlds unknown; from Warren Publishing's Vampirella to Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan and John Carter of Mars. Frazetta's iconic "Conan the Destroyer" painting (originally the cover illustration for Conan the Buccaneer by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter) is noteworthy for having the record selling price for a work by the most renowned fantasy and illustration artist of the 20th century.
"Conan the Destroyer" can be viewed on the third floor landing in the Museum of American Illustration at Society of Illustrators (128 East 63rd Street, NYC) on Tuesdays 10am-8pm, Wednesdays through Fridays 10am-5pm and on Saturdays from 12pm-4pm until May 30, 2012.
