Happy New Year!

Happy New Year? In case you weren't aware, July 1 was the beginning of the new fiscal year for AMRA. With the fiscal year change, the newly elected board began its term at this time also and we will shortly be upon the new racing season, which begins in November this year. So, on behalf of the new board I'd like to welcome you to the beginning of the AMRA 2011 racing season!

Speaking of the board, the newly elected Executive Board is as follows:
• President: Dan Hayakawa (new)
• Vice President: Stuart Hamer (new)
• Secretary: Mike Milewski (new)
• Treasurer: Vance Kennedy (returning)

In addition to the newly elected Executive Board, we also have several newly Appointed Officers that I'd like to introduce you to:
• Big Bike Steward: Eric Zite (returning)
• Mini Bike Steward: Adam McCreight (new)
• Media Relations: Clyde McKay (new)
• Sponsorship: Bobby White (new)
• Website: Dan Hayakawa (returning)

In preparation for the upcoming season, the new board took some time to capture our observations of the series and identified a number of goals that we would like to set for the organization and use as guidance for how we could best direct our efforts over the next year.

Based on our observations we decided on the following goals for AMRA for 2011:
1. Grow the series
2. Simplify and standardize
3. Make AMRA easier to do business with

Thanks to your tremendous feedback and the guidance of all of the clubs that make up AMRA, the board is working on many initiatives that we feel will help us achieve these goals and provide for an even better quality racing experience for you. I have summarized just a few of these changes along with the goals they are attached to.

Grow the series
• Mini Cost Reductions - Minis are the future of our series and our sport. In an effort to make racing minis more affordable, we will not be requiring mini riders to purchase an AMA membership (a one time savings of $39). Minis will still need to purchase an AMRA membership ($10).
• Marketing and media promotion - To drive awareness you will see much more emphasis on consistent marketing via web, email, Facebook and Twitter in addition to posters, ads, media and other marketing channels. We need to continue to focus on ways that we can reach new riders and continue to get the AMRA name out there.
• Promotions - We will be running specials throughout the year to encourage our racers to spread the word and bring new racers to our events.

Simplify and standardize
• Series management, sign-up and scoring software - We will be using a new standardized scoring and event management system for the series which will help us get results up quicker and more consistently. This system will provide a better experience for racers and spectators alike with racer status updates, spectator scoreboards as well as the capability to sign up for email/SMS/text alerts when results are posted.

Make AMRA easier to do business with
• AMRA New Rider Open House days - We will be running these new rider days prior and during the season to provide a less intimidating environment for prospective racers to ask questions, learn about racing and the series so that their first race goes smooth.
• AMRA Sponsors - Our sponsorship officer has a vast level of experience in the industry and will help ensure that both racers and sponsors get maximum benefit for supporting "Arizona's Premier Off Road Championship Series"

I hope you are as excited about the upcoming race series as I am, so stay tuned to our newly launched website at http://amraracing.com for all of the details on the start of our 2011 racing season! Now, who's ready to race?

Cheers,
Dan
