Americans Explore Retiring in Portugal
100 plus U.S. citizens explore living and investing in real estate in Portugal.
Washington, DC, July 27, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Moneycorp was a sponsor of a recent conference held in Algarve, Portugal July 6th to the 8th, hosted by Live and Invest Overseas. The well attended conference of nearly 100 people was focused on citizens of the United States interested in retiring and/or investing in property in Portugal.
The 3 day conference was in Carvoeiro Portugal. Carvoeiro is in the Algarve, the Southern part of Portugal which is on the coast. The area has a wonderful feel of vacation, relaxation, and all various types of fun and activities, as a visitor or as an expat moving here. At the same time there were support partners and experts on hand to help attendees with decision to move here year-round or seasonally.
They always knew that their bank was taking advantage of them in the foreign exchange area, but were not aware of any alternatives. They were amazed to see how much money, time, and hassle they would be saving by utilizing a currency specialist
Brian Bernal , Account Executive, Moneycorp USA
Brian Bernal, an executive of Moneycorp USA, was on hand at the conference, both as a speaker and as a resource to talk through international payments and currency conversions. Brian shared, “I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to the attendees, which were 96% American. The opportunity to provide the nearly 100 attendees with specific support and experience on international payments for property purchasing was valuable. With the strength of the US dollar it was great to provide them with the current exchange rates.”
Moneycorp receives many inquirers with regards to Americans purchasing in Europe with the current strength of the US dollar in relation to the Euro and other currencies. “It was nice to personally meet with the attendees of the conference and explore Portugal and the opportunities together” stated Brian Bernal of Moneycorp. At the beginning of the conference, the host and owner of Live and Invest Overseas, Leif Simon, asked the audience “How many people have never been to Portugal?” Brian shared, “Slowly, almost everyone’s hand went into the air including mine. It was nice to be with fellow Americans in a European country with healthy buying power (for a change) and an investment appetite.”
When Brian was asked to share what stood out to him the most he explained, “I was shocked to learn that almost all attendees have never used a currency exchange provider to send funds internationally. It seemed they always knew that their bank was taking advantage of them in the foreign exchange area, but were not aware of any alternatives. They were amazed to see how much money, time, and hassle they would be saving by utilizing a currency specialist.”
Portugal, once a leader in world exploration and discovery remains off the radar of European and international visitors and expatriates compared to other Southern European destinations such as Coastal Spain and Coastal France. “Because Portugal remains off the radar, its beaches remain unspoiled. Its cities with their romantic, historic past and all the charm of Old Europe are less swarmed with visitors and have a safer and more relaxed feel” concluded Brian of Moneycorp.
